Overview

To connect an Amazon SES inbox to MailOptimal, you'll need to locate or generate the relevant SMTP information for this inbox. Follow these steps to set up and verify your email, configure SMTP settings, and integrate it with MailOptimal.

Prerequisites
  1. Add and Verify Your Email Address: Ensure you've added your email address to Amazon SES and verified it. You must complete this step before proceeding.
Important Note

Amazon SES is an SMTP-only email provider and does not have its own IMAP service. To receive emails/replies, you need to add another email account's IMAP, such as Gmail. This option does not work with Office365 inboxes as they do not support IMAP.

Step-by-Step GuideStep 1: Locate/Generate SMTP Credentials

Refer to Amazon's documentation on how to locate or generate SMTP credentials: Amazon SES SMTP Credentials Guide.

  1. Sign in to the AWS Management Console:

  2. Access SMTP Settings:

    • In the left navigation panel, choose SMTP settings to open the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) settings page.
  3. Create SMTP Credentials:

    • Click on Create SMTP Credentials in the upper-right corner, which will open the IAM console.
    • In the Create User for SMTP section, type a name for your SMTP user in the User Name field or use the default value provided. Then, choose Create user.
  4. Retrieve SMTP Password:

    • Click on Show under SMTP password to view your SMTP credentials.
    • Download these credentials by choosing Download .csv file or copy them and store them in a safe place. You won’t be able to view or save your credentials after you close this dialog box.
  5. Get SMTP Host:

    • Find the SMTP host under SMTP settings > SMTP endpoint and port.

Step 2: Connect to MailOptimal

  1. Log in to MailOptimal:

    • Navigate to your MailOptimal dashboard.
    • Click on Add Email Account and choose the SMTP connection method.
  2. Configure SMTP Settings:

    • Email Address: Enter the verified email address from Amazon SES.
    • SMTP Username: Enter the SMTP username saved earlier.
    • SMTP Password: Enter the SMTP password saved earlier.
    • SMTP Host: Enter the relevant SMTP endpoint.
    • SMTP Port: Use port 587. If this doesn’t work, try other ports listed in the Amazon SES documentation.
  3. Enter IMAP Credentials and Settings:

Final Steps

Once you've completed these steps, MailOptimal will be able to send emails using your Amazon SES account. Enjoy warming up your emails with MailOptimal!
